Hyatt Hotels Corp. announced a 50/50 joint venture with Grupo Piñero, owner of Bahia Principe Hotels.

As part of this joint venture, Hyatt will take over management of the Bahia Principe hotels and become owner of the brand.

With this agreement, the Hyatt Inclusive Collection now includes 22 resorts, representing approximately 12,000 rooms spread across the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Jamaica and Spain.

By the end of 2025, Hyatt said it expects its Hyatt Inclusive collection to contain more than 140 properties from 10 different brands.

Acquisition possible de Playa Hotels & Resorts

Hyatt also entered into an exclusivity agreement with Playa Hotels & Resorts, which could result in Hyatt acquiring Playa, according to Hotel Management Network.

“Playa has been a valued partner for many years. It is one of the world’s leading operators of all-inclusive resorts. The chain has a portfolio of high-quality, upscale all-inclusive resorts in iconic locations and key markets across the Caribbean and Mexico,” said Hyatt Chairman and CEO Mark Hoplamazian, who looks forward to the joint venture formed with Bahia Principe.

The latter is part of Hyatt’s growth strategy in the all-inclusive market. This growth began with the creation of the Hyatt Ziva and Hyatt Zilara brands in 2013.

Hyatt then acquired Apple Leisure Group in 2021, consolidating its leadership position in the all-inclusive market.

Since then, the company has continued to expand its presence, and this new joint venture with Bahia Principe marks an important step in this dynamic of continued growth, with the ambition to exceed 140 all-inclusive properties by end of 2025.
