Precycling is recovering after the fire which ravaged one of its halls on December 17. The cause is now official: it was a lithium battery which caught fire in the hangar of the Reconvilier recycling company. A material which, as a reminder, should be sorted separately from household waste.
Around twenty days later, work to restore the site is still in progress. Despite everything, Precycling activities have not stopped. However, they will resume at full speed this week, according to its director Alexandre Haussener. No restrictions for customers are planned. The difference will be for the employees: “Without a hangar, employees will have to work outside and endure the weather conditions. » Snow and water, which are very present during this winter period, will also have to be pumped out regularly.
Precycling thus suffered serious damage. If it was able to save its machines and no employee was injured, the value of the hall was 2 million francs, not counting the material destroyed by fire or water. Even though part of the hall still stood, the roof had to be dismantled to avoid the risk of collapse. What was not swept away by the flames is now stored elsewhere, waiting to be able to set up a temporary shelter. Ultimately, the director of the recycling company hopes to rebuild a hangar by next winter. /ehe
