The General arrived on the scene this Sunday to “a work meeting” with local officials. Yevkurov’s service record is as long as an arm: a highlight of his military career, he would have been a true talisman who protected the Kremlin fromEvgeni Prigogina.

In 2023, for example, he was at the heart of the negotiations which led to the abandonment of the mutiny of Wagner group. A planned mutiny which resulted in the dissolution of the paramilitary group and the death of its emblematic leader.
