In 2025, the demand for this type of bodywork remains very real: a large trunk, formidable modularity and comfort worthy of a sedan. In this niche, a solid silhouette stands out: the SKODA Superb Combi, crowned “Reference Break 2025”.

Of course, there is no shortage of competition. Between the established German station wagons, the Japanese attempts that are sometimes too timid, and the French who oscillate between sedans and minivans, the competition is tough. So how is it that the Superb Combi takes the prize? What is so unique about her that she can win against seasoned rivals? Lovers of stylistic eccentricities may be left wanting more, but that’s what makes the Superb so successful: a sobriety that doesn’t go out of style over the years.
The stern extends to accommodate a large trunk (we will come back to this), while the rear lights, connected by a strip or separated depending on the finish, are legible and modern. The rims, more or less large depending on the range, add a touch of distinction. In short, there is no risk of confusing the Superb Combi with a futuristic concept car, but we know what to expect: it is a station wagon, a real one, with its reasonable overhangs and its access to the generous tailgate .

Inside: an almost royal space

One of the great arguments of the SKODA Superb Combi is its habitability. Once the door is opened, you discover a well-designed interior, with an emphasis on functionality. Front passengers have comfortable seats and a neat driving position. In the back, you could organize a picnic as there is plenty of legroom (depending on the size of the guests, obviously).
The trunk, meanwhile, easily exceeds 600 liters in standard configuration. This is a real boon for large families or those who regularly have to transport bulky items. The rear seat backs fold almost flat, freeing up space worthy of a small van. You can easily fit strollers, children’s bikes, or even a few surfboards for the more adventurous.

Engines for all tastes

In 2025, we can no longer be satisfied with a classic gasoline unit to satisfy the planet (and town halls inclined to limit emissions). There Superb Combi therefore offers a range of engines:

  • Essence : For those who prefer flexibility and quiet operation, there are turbo engines with variable power, suitable for long journeys.
  • Diesel : Despite the planned decline, it remains a valuable ally for heavy riders. Skoda has kept one or two well-adjusted TDI blocks, meeting current anti-pollution standards.

On the highway, the body remains stable, soundproofing is satisfactory, and vibrations are well contained. Heavy riders will particularly appreciate the regularity of the engine response, whether in diesel or hybrid.

A hassle-free digital experience

At a time when touch screens are multiplying and certain brands are having fun making physical buttons disappear, the Superb Combi shows restraint. Yes, there is a rather large central screen, bringing together the majority of infotainment functions: navigation, multimedia, smartphone connectivity, etc. Customizable digital meters are also included on higher finishes.
However, ergonomics remains a strong point: air conditioning, for example, is not confined to three drop-down menus; we still have dedicated wheels or keys, depending on the version chosen. The menus are displayed in a rather intuitive interface, limiting driver frustration while maneuvering. The CarPlay/Android Auto connection does not require a BAC+5 in electronics, which will appeal to those who just want to launch their favorite playlist in two clicks.

Safety and driving aids

In 2025, it will be difficult to exist in the large family segment without a range of driving aids. There Superb Combi meets the specifications: adaptive cruise control, lane crossing alert, sign recognition, blind spot detection, emergency braking, etc. The system generally operates smoothly, even if it is better to remain vigilant in dense urban areas .
We also find the semi-automatic parking assistant to facilitate the slot with such a size. The station wagon is not a city car, but these aids take away some of the stress associated with maneuvering in tight parking lots.

Range, prices and finishes

The SKODA Superb Combi is displayed at prices starting at around 35,000 euros for entry-level petrol versions, rising to more than 45,000 (or even 50,000) for higher finishes, depending on the engine. The plug-in hybrid version (badged “iV“) is located in the medium-high range, with an additional cost relating to on-board technology.
The most opulent finishes receive equipment worthy of higher segments: half-leather upholstery, controlled suspensions, configurable ambient lighting, etc. We are not in ostentatious luxury, but the manufacturing quality remains solid, with careful assembly and valuable materials.
