SPVM spokesperson Jean-Pierre Brabant indicated that the firefighters had brought the fire under control when the police arrived and that the witnesses and the information collected at the scene led the firefighters to transfer the file to the arson squad.

“It appears that one or more suspects were seen breaking into this building,” Jean-Pierre Brabant said, adding that an accelerant was found at the scene.

The suspects fled before firefighters or police arrived.

The space sustained significant damage, but no injuries were reported.

The investigation continues.

Second fire in a year

This is the second time in less than a year that the same address has been targeted by an incendiary bomb.

In May, authorities intervened after the building caught fire.

Minor damage was reported, but a window was broken when an incendiary object was thrown through it.
