Finally, the tricolor Hugo Lapalus finished for the second consecutive year in third place in the Tour de Ski behind the Norwegian Johannes Klaebo.
Frenchman Hugo Lapalus finished for the second consecutive year in third place in the Tour de Ski, counting for the cross-country skiing World Cup, won by Norwegian Johannes Klaebo on Sunday at Alpe Cermis (Italy). Lapalus finished in fourth place on the seventh and final stage, the daunting climb to Alpe Cermis with portions at 30%. In the final ranking of the Tour de Ski, the flagship event of the cross-country skiing World Cup, the cross-country skier from La Clusaz who was fifth at the start of the day, was only beaten by Klaebo and the Austrian Mika Vermeulen.
Lapalus, 26, won the climbers’ classification, new for this 2024-25 edition. Another Frenchman, Mathis Desloges, finished in the top 10 with an eighth place, 2 min 54 sec behind Klaebo. The Norwegian, winner of four stages of this Tour de Ski and star of the discipline, won the event for the fourth time in his career to equal the victory record of the Swiss Dario Cologna and the Polish Justyna Kowalczyk.
