The video shows the 19-year-old calling on the Israeli government to act to secure her release.
Liri Albag’s family authorized the publication of screenshots of this video, said the Families Forum, an association of relatives of hostages held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
“We appeal to the Prime Minister, world leaders and all decision-makers: it is time to make decisions as if your own children were there,” the Albag family said in a statement.
The young woman was kidnapped during her military service in Nahal Oz, along with six other soldiers, five of whom are still captive. The Families Forum reaffirmed “the urgency of bringing the hostages home”.
On Friday, Hamas announced the resumption of indirect negotiations with Israel in Doha for a ceasefire. During the one-week truce in November 2023, 105 hostages were released in exchange for 240 Palestinian prisoners held by Israel.
-Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed on Saturday the resumption of negotiations. His office said efforts are underway to free the hostages and that an Israeli delegation left for Qatar on Friday.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu spoke with Liri Albag’s parents. According to his office, he assured that Israel “continues to act tirelessly” for the return of “all the hostages”.
During the October 7, 2023 attack in Israel, Palestinian Islamists killed more than 1,200 people, mainly civilians, and kidnapped 251 people. 96 are still hostages in Gaza, including 34 declared dead by the Israeli army.
