Dani Olmo affair: the authorities still refuse his registration, Barça soon to run out of options?

(very) hard blow for FC Barcelona. In the eye of the storm for several weeks, with the impossibility of registering Dani Olmo and Victor on the La Liga lists for the second part of the season in the Spanish championship, the Catalan club was faced with an end to not received by the governing bodies this Saturday. Indeed, the League and the Spanish Federation (RFEF) have decided, jointly, to reject the license requests of the two elements, recruited this summer by Barça.

“The Control Commission agrees not to grant the prior visa or definitive license requested by FC Barcelona for the players Daniel Olmo Carvajal and Pau Víctor Delgado in accordance with the literal interpretation of articles 130.2 and 141.5 of the General Regulations of the RFEF which prevent a player whose license is canceled from being able, during the same season, to obtain a license in the same team of the club to which he was already linked,” we read in the press release.

Barça towards justice?

A difficult decision to digest for FC Barcelona, which should now take legal action according to information from independent journalist Fabrizio Romano.

Recruited for 55 million euros from RB Leipzig in the summer of 2024, Dani Olmo, central to Spain’s Euro title, was narrowly included on Barça’s lists to participate in national competitions. The Blaugrana were then “saved” by the long-term injury of Andreas Christensen, which had freed up a place for Olmo. However, the former Chelsea defender is back, and his presence in the lists is not compatible with that of Olmo and Victor, otherwise the wage bill imposed on Barça would explode.

After activating several economic levers, the club led by Joan Laporta believed it could re-register its two players despite the passing of the deadline, set for December 31 for registrations. But this Saturday, the League and the Spanish Federation confirmed that it was not possible to give a second license to a player, after the loss of the latter.
