The Oise is in orange warning for snow and ice this Saturday, January 4. Météo France announces that the first snowflakes should fall in the early evening. But snow is not the main concern on the roads this Saturday. The showers of freezing rain could be more substantial.
On its website, Météo France explains the upcoming winter phenomenon a little better: “Following a cold air mass widespread throughout Hauts-de-France, a disturbance arrives at the end of the day, associated with significantly milder air, which sweeps the region from the southwest to northeast. The meeting of these two air masses causes winter precipitation, initially in the form of a generally brief episode of snow, quickly followed by an evolution into more notable freezing rain.»
SNCF recommends caution
Even if the snow is not expected to be much higher than a centimeter, this episode could have consequences on transport. This Saturday the SNCF is already considering possible disruptions to trains and buses in the region. Users are recommended to check their train online before going to the station.
The end of the frost should arrive with daybreak this Sunday, January 5. The orange vigilance continues for most of the night but the situation becomes green again a little after 3 a.m.
