Here is our predicted Southampton line-up for today’s Premier League clash against Brentford at St Marys Stadium.
Southampton are not having a good season. However, it sounds like a broken record saying that, so let’s try not to look at position in the standings and instead focus on “having fun” between now and the end of the season.
Yes, Southampton will probably be relegated this season… But the players should at least fight. The second half of the season /must/ be better than the beginning of the season, right?
Either way, let’s hope for at least a half-decent performance in today’s match. Here is our predicted line-up for Southampton v Brentford…
Predicted Southampton vs Brentford – Premier League
GK – Aaron Ramsdale. Rambo has been a saving grace for Southampton this season and while it’s not his fault, his absence has definitely been felt. It’s good to have him back.
CB-Taylor Harwood-Bellis. Having started almost every Premier League match this season, this match will be no different.
CB – Jan Bednarek. He has seen Southampton in many positions, but this has to be one of the worst Southampton teams Bednarek has played in. Nevertheless, he hopes to lead them to a good result here.
CB – Nathan Wood. Juric started Wood in his first two games in charge, so he gets a nice run.
-RSF – James Bree. Played well in his first start under Ivan Juric, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Bree given another chance here.
CM – Lesley Ugochukwu. Juric recently stated his intention to keep Ugochukwu and how much he rates him as a player. He was one of the players to benefit from Martin’s departure.
CM – Flynn Downes. Facing a late fitness assessment before facing Brentford, it would be great to have Downes back in the lineup, especially with Fernandes suspended.
ASF – Kyle Walker-Peters. This is probably KWP’s last season at Southampton if we’re realistic, so let’s enjoy every last minute of his presence.
CF – Tyler Dibling. Tyler Dibling will play right behind the two forwards. Hopefully he will act as a midfielder to attack the anchor and create a few chances.
ST-Adam Armstrong. Question marks remain over whether Armstrong is fit for the Premier League, but hopefully a few more goals between now and the season will boost his confidence.
ST-Paul Onuachu. Paul Onuachu, who claims his first Southampton goal this season, completes the favored partnership under Ivan Juric.
