This Saturday, the Swede Sara Hector, after flying through the first lap, easily won the giant slalom of Kranjska Gora.

Sara Hector held her place. This Saturday, the Swede won the giant slalom of Kranjska Gora in Slovenia, counting for the Alpine Skiing World Cup. The reigning Olympic champion in the specialty (32 years old), who had overcome the first round earlier this Saturday morning, beat the Albanian Lara Colturi (18 years old), already second at the end of the first round. New Zealander Alice Robinson (23) took third place on the podium. This second round was, once again, dominated by Hector, who even achieved the third best time in this one, although he started in last position. The Swede signs her seventh World Cup success, the seventh in giant. This season, Sara Hector had already triumphed for the first time, at the Killington giant, at the end of November. Second, Colturi was 1”42 behind at the finish. This is the second podium of the young Albanian’s career, after her second place won last November during the Gurgl slalom in Austria.

Hector, new leader of the general

Robinson, for his part, was 1”52 behind at the finish. This is the third giant podium won by the New Zealander this season, after her second place in Sölden, Austria, at the end of October, then her third in Semmering at the end of December. Thanks to her success, Sara Hector took the opportunity to kill two birds with one stone, so much so that she also took the lead in the general classification of the World Cup. With a total of 407 points, the Swede is ahead of the Swiss Camille Rast (383 points) and the Croatian Zrinka Ljutic (356 points), respectively eighth and twelfth in this giant on Saturday. For her part, the Italian Federica Brignone, who made a mistake during the first round, therefore scored no points and found herself fourth in the general classification. The Transalpine also cedes the lead in the specialties ranking to Hector.
