Cyclo-cross. Cyclism. Super prestige – Lucinda Brand domine Alvarado sur la manche de Gullegem

This Saturday took place the seventh and penultimate round of the Super prestigein Gullegem. A small point of difference separated Ceylin Alverado (Fenix-Deceuninck) et Lucinda Brand (Baloise Trek Lions) in the general classification before the start of this cross. The two favorites competed for victory but in the end it was Lucinda Brand which imposed itself. She is ahead of the British Zoé Backstedt and her rival, Ceylin Alvarado. In the general ranking, Lucinda Brand takes orders one point ahead of Alvarado.

The race summary

From the start of the race Zoé Backstedt takes control of the race and takes the lead. It is extracted with Ceylin Alvarado et Léonie Bentveld. At the end of the second lap, the trio had a 10-second lead over Lucinda Brand et Marion Norbert Riberolle. Lucinda Brand lets go of the Belgian, but is unable to come back and remains ten seconds behind the leading trio.

In the fourth of five rounds of the event, Lucinda Brand speeds up and comes back Léonie Bentveldwho can’t keep up Alvarado et Backstedt. At the cost of a great effort, the Dutch champion returned to the leading duo. There are three girls who start the last round, together. Barely returned, Brand places an attack, which hurts Zoé Backstedt notably. Alvarado also suffers and loses second after second. Brand finally wins alone.
