a man suspected of supplying him with drugs arrested in Argentina

One of two people accused of supplying drugs to British singer Liam Payne before his death in October 2024 in a hotel in Buenos Aires was arrested, police sources told AFP this Friday, January 3.

The man, identified as Braian Paiz, is accused of delivering cocaine to Liam Payne, two days before the singer’s fatal fall from the balcony of his hotel room. He is one of five people prosecuted in this case.

On October 17, the Argentine prosecutor in charge of the investigation into the death of the former member of the British group One Direction gave the press the first elements of his investigation. “Everything indicates that the singer was alone at the time of his fall”indicated the prosecution even if it also explained that it was continuing to explore other avenues with the possible involvement of third parties.

For the prosecutor, Liam Payne would have fallen from the third floor to the ground of the interior patio of the hotel in a “state of semi-consciousness or unconsciousness”. In a press release, the prosecution specified in November that: “The results of the toxicological studies – already communicated to his family – revealed that, in the moments preceding his death and during at least his last 72 hours, Payne presented in his body a polyconsumption of alcohol, cocaine and antidepressants“.
