a half-ton metal ring fell from the sky in Kenya… The country's space agency has confirmed what many suspected!

Initial findings suggest that it is space debris. Experts speak in particular of a rocket separation ring.

Shortly before New Year's Eve, residents of a small village southeast of the Kenyan capital Nairobi witnessed an unexpected event. A metal ring approximately 2.5 meters in diameter and weighing almost half a ton fell from the sky on December 30without causing any injuries.

The object was scattered between the earth and the vegetation, while several curious people approached to observe it. The mystery remains: is it part of an airplane or a spaceship? Local police secured the area until a team from the Kenya Space Agency (KSA) arrived and removed the debris for analysis.

Some 48 hours after his intervention, the KSA published a press release. Preliminary results of his investigation suggest that the mysterious object is a separation ring from a space launcher. The agency did not say which rocket it was and called the event an “isolated case.”
