Montigny-le-Bretonneux (Yvelines), the town where Philippine, a student murdered last September in the Bois de Boulogne, resided, has decided to name a future children’s play area in her name. This space should be inaugurated in spring 2025.
Montigny-le-Bretonneux pays tribute to Philippine. The town where the young student came from murdered last September in the Bois de Boulogne, decided, unanimously, during the municipal council meeting on December 16, to name an inclusive, fun and sporting playground in his name. The inauguration of this space is planned for spring.
A play area designed for all children
Designed in collaboration with the neighborhood council and the municipal council, this future space aims to provide a secure and suitable leisure space for all children, including those with disabilities.
The mayor of the town, Lorrain Merckaert, stressed to Le Parisien that Philippine was a young student “very committed to the cause of children”; she was particularly involved with the Scouts and Guides of France, whom she supervised. “It helps us remember that she was only a child. She was only 19 years old,” a resident told our colleagues.
The young woman was found dead on September 21, the autopsy concluding that she died of asphyxiation. At the end of December, the main suspect, who had been extradited from Switzerland to France and indicted, confessed during a hearing by an investigating judge.
