Questioning the invisibility of the visible is what the Lachinese artist Manon Pelletier invites us to do, through the exhibition entitled Entrelacementsuntil January 23, 2025 at the Henri-Lemieux Cultural and Community Center (CCCHL) in LaSalle.

This exhibition invites visitors to immerse themselves in a universe where reality and imagination intertwine in a poetic and social way. Ms. Pelletier’s works, which oscillate between figuration and abstraction, reflect her reflection on the interconnections between these two worlds.

Born in Lachine, she still lives and works there. Does his neighborhood have an influence on his art? ” Absolutely ! Every day, the Lachinoise walks on the shores of Lake Saint-Louis where she will recharge her batteries physically and mentally and find her inspiration. “I am privileged to live in an environment like that, to have access to nature. Manon Pelletier has devoted more than forty years of her life to research and artistic creation. Holder of a master’s degree in visual arts from the University of Quebec in Montreal (UQAM), she was able to transform her academic career into a prolific career, with more than a hundred exhibitions to her credit, both in Quebec and abroad. in Europe.

Manon Pelletier is recognized not only for her works of public art, but also for her contributions to private and public collections, including those of the City of Montreal. His artistic research has developed around themes aimed at revealing what escapes our usual perception.

Strange but familiar works

In the exhibition EntrelacementsMs. Pelletier explores our perception of others. An attempt to “destabilize the reading of the customary” to “show and understand what escapes us in our relationship to others,” she writes in the note that accompanies the works.

We are struck by these disproportionate heads placed on smaller bodies. The head is the seat of emotions, she says. It represents the layers of people’s experiences, the tangle of emotions and feelings. “But, because of our social mask, we cannot see everything,” believes the artist.
