A 77-year-old woman died in a fire in her house in Caudecoste this Thursday, January 2. He would be a fairly well-known figure in the village.
At 4 p.m. this Thursday, January 2, smoke was still escaping from the house which caught fire a little earlier in the day, on the road from Marcays to Caudecoste. The habitable part of this old farmhouse of more than 200 m2 which also includes a barn was completely ravaged by flames. The thirty firefighters mobilized as part of this violent fire were still clearing the scene at the end of the afternoon, to allow the gendarmes to carry out the investigation. In total, three hoses, a large water truck and a large ladder were needed to extinguish the fire.
An investigation is underway
When they arrived on the scene at 12:25 p.m., firefighters noted the death of a 77-year-old woman. It was the tenant of the house. Suffering from an illness, the victim was bedridden and received daily home care. It was her caregiver who called the firefighters, seeing smoke in the house and discovering her patient dead. The house would have caught fire in the process. For the moment, the investigation is ongoing and the circumstances of the tragedy remain unknown.
“Her sons came to see her regularly, and the caregiver had spoken to them on the phone again this morning,” confides François Dailledouze, the mayor of Caudecoste, present on the scene. This would be a fairly well-known family in the village of around 1,300 inhabitants, located after Sauveterre-Saint-Denis. Her husband, who died a few years ago, is said to have run an equipment business in the town. The victim would have worked at Citroën. Sick, she did not receive many visits in recent years, apart from those from her children.
-A tragedy which occurs a little more than two months after the fire of a house in Astaffort, which cost the life of Geneviève Tourné, an octogenarian who was also well known in her village.
