Ferdi Tayfur, who lives in the Marmaris district of Muğla, fell ill and was hospitalized on December 15. He was then sent to Antalya at the request of his family. The artist underwent sinus surgery in Antalya.
Later, his treatment continued in the same hospital. The artist’s condition did not improve during the monitoring period.
Ferdi Tayfur received a kidney transplant from his son in Antalya in 2020.
On December 19, Ferdi Tayfur thanked his doctor in his hospital bed on camera and said, “I’m doing great.”
The master artist died in the evening at the hospital where he had been treated in the morning for organ failure.
WHO IS FERDI TAYFUR?
Born in Adana on November 15, 1945, his full name is Ferdi Tayfur Turanbayburt, and his father Cumali Bey, a fan of voice actor Ferdi Tayfur, named him.
Tayfur, whose educational life ended with the death of his father, his mother remarried, and although he wanted to study, he could not find the opportunity due to the poor and tragic life he lived, worked as an apprentice in his stepfather’s candy store during his childhood.
The artist, who learned to read in the business world, later began contributing to his family’s income by working on the farm and singing at weddings during the same years.
ADANA RADIO WAS A TURNING POINT
The artist, who participated in the Adana Radio music competition and came second, which he saw announced in a local newspaper, came to Istanbul, found a job at Lunapark Casino, despite the opposition of his father-in-law, and started playing baglama with Nurten İnnap.
Ferdi Tayfur, who recorded his first record titled Leyla and earned 500 lira from this record, signed a two-record contract with Seda Plak in 1968. Unable to receive the expected attention, the artist returned to Adana and resumed work on the farm. .
The artist, who continued his musical studies during these years, released his record “I Have No Peace” after a three-year hiatus. The artist, who made a name for himself in 1973 with the single “Wild Flowers”, which he produced for Görsev Plak, and became known with the single entitled “Tell Me the Truth” in 1974 .

-Ferdi Tayfur transferred to Elenor Plak in 1975 and gained a large fan base with his songs “Let’s Go Gurbeti” and “Çeşme” and became known throughout the country.
The artist, whose first record sold more than expected, but due to financial difficulties, two songs he composed on the initiative of Atilla Alpsakarya, owner of Elenor Plak, were sold to Gülden Karaböcek, achieved his real breakthrough with the song “Çeşme”. . His first film of the same name, starring Necla Nazır, was released in 1976 and was watched by 12 million people.

Tayfur’s album “Prangalar”, released in 1992, became one of the best-selling albums in Türkiye with 5 million copies. Meeting her fans at concerts, Tayfur’s concert at Gülhane Park in 1993 broke the record at the time and was attended by 200,000 people.

The artist had a son named Timur from a woman he lived with when he was 16-17 years old. He married Zeliha Hanım in a modest ceremony in 1974. He had two daughters, Tuğba and Funda, by his first and only legally married wife, Zeliha Hanım.
He had a daughter named Tuğçe with film actress Necla Nazır, with whom he lived together for almost 30 years and separated in 2007. While with Necla Nazır, the artist had a another child named Ferdi Taha from Habibe Ümyani Demir. After many years, Tayfur started living again with his first wife Zeliha Turanbayburt in 2010.
