Las Vegas police have shared information on the identity of the person found dead following the explosion of a Tesla in Las Vegas on Wednesday.
Who is the person who died in the explosion of a Tesla outside a Donald Trump hotel in Las Vegas? Local police said during a press conference this Thursday, January 2, that they had found a passport in the name of Matthew Livelsberger, an American soldier on active duty, and weapons at the scene of the explosion.
But the authorities are not yet able to determine 100% whether it is indeed the victim due to the state of the body, burned following the explosion.
“We discovered, through the medical examiner’s office, that the individual had suffered a gunshot wound to the head before the vehicle exploded,” said Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill, suggesting suicide.
From Denver to Las Vegas
“One of the pistols was found at his feet, inside the vehicle,” he said. Several weapons were thus discovered. The sheriff added that, at this time, there is no indication that anyone else was involved in the case. According to surveillance cameras collected on the route since the rental of the car in Denver (Colorado), he was alone on the route to the Trump Hotel. The FBI said the suspect’s motives are “unknown.”
-Elon Musk, boss of Tesla and supporter of Donald Trump, declared on his social network X that his teams were investigating this explosion, claiming to have “never seen anything like this”.
This explosion occurred a few hours after a car-ramming attack in New Orleans, Louisiana, which left at least fourteen dead. During a press conference this Thursday, Christopher Raia, deputy director of the FBI for the anti-terrorism division, indicated that “no connection” was “established” between the attack in New Orleans which at least 14 dead and this explosion.
US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that authorities were investigating whether there was “any possible connection” between this explosion and the deadly attack in New Orleans, specifying that nothing had indicated it so far.
“There is no ISIS flag visible as was the case in New Orleans,” said Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill. Seven people were injured in this incident.
