Alessandro Botturi wins stage 2 and takes the lead of the Africa Eco Race.

Alessandro Botturi started the new year with victory in the second stage of the 2025 Africa Eco Race. This result allows him to climb to the top of the general ranking.

The Italian Yamaha Ténéré Rally Team rider completed the 319km timed special in 3h44m46s, beating the previous leader, Jacopo Cerutti (Aprilia), by 2m52s. This performance places Botturi as the new leader, with a lead of 1m57s over his Italian compatriot.

Guillaume Borne (Team GBR/Husqvarna) is currently in third position in the general classification after finishing fourth during this stage, behind Francesco Montanari (Aprilia). The top five of the day was completed by Guillem Martínez (Team Senegal/KTM), who also occupies fifth place in the general classification.

This Thursday, the Africa Eco Race continues with the third stage, one of the longest of the event: 453 km of timed sections in Morocco, from Touizgui to Laayoune. The route passes Erg Cheggaga and Irikki, with completely new segments.
