Elon Musk’s Cybertruck explodes at Trump’s Las Vegas property

A 2024 Tesla Cybertruck exploded Wednesday morning outside Trump’s Las Vegas property, shocking both the city and the internet. Authorities say the truck, filled with fireworks, gas tanks and camping fuel, was equipped with a driver-controlled detonation system.

The explosion killed the driver, injured seven and left everyone wondering: What is happening? The rental vehicle arrived in Vegas from Colorado around 7:30 a.m., drove along iconic Las Vegas Boulevard for an hour, then stopped in front of the Trump Hotel just before exploding.

Surveillance footage would show the truck circling the area before finally parking and catching fire seconds later. The explosion sparked an FBI investigation. “We are working to determine whether this was an act of terrorism,” said Jeremy Schwartz, acting special agent in charge of the FBI’s Las Vegas office. “At this time we believe this is an isolated incident dent

A Cybertruck like no other

Firefighters arrived on scene shortly after 8:40 a.m. and found the 2024 Tesla Cybertruck engulfed in flames. The driver’s body remains inside the vehicle while investigators attempt to dent him. Seven bystanders were injured in the explosion, but all are in stable condition, according to Deputy Fire Chief Billy Samuels.

Las Vegas Sheriff Kevin McMahill credited the Cybertruck’s design for limiting the damage. “The explosion went through the truck, sparing the glass doors of the hotel and surrounding structures,” he said. “It could have been a lot worse.”

And then there is Elon Musk. The eccentric CEO of Tesla is directly linked to the chaos, currently being best friends with tooth Donald Trump. Authorities confirmed that Elon provided footage of the Tesla charging station to help track the truck’s movements.

From Cybertrucks to Kekius Maximus

Just days before the explosion, Elon performed one of his classic stunts. On New Year’s Eve, he changed his display name X (formerly Twitter) to “Kekius Maximus” and replaced his profile picture with that of the Internet-famous Pepe the Frog.

Almost instantly, a memecoin called Kekius Maximus (KEKIUS) went viral. The token, inspired by Internet culture and Elon’s antics, exploded in value. Its market capitalization went from $54,000 to $10.4 million in just one hour. Trading volume reached $2.73 million and the token’s price surged over 900%, peaking at $0.005667.

The crypto community went wild. Traders were wondering if Elon was directly involved in the token’s sudden rise. Chain sleuths pointed to a trader who purchased $4,360 worth of KEKIUS just hours before the outbreak, making it a $638,000 bargain.

But as we went to press, the bubble had burst. KEKIUS lost 50% of its value in 24 hours after a cash whale raked in millions. The token’s market cap remains above $130 million, but the buzz has died down a bit. And Elon changed his display name.
