A Tesla Cybertruck exploded outside the Trump Hotel in Las Vegas on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring at least seven others, authorities said, while the FBI said it was assisting in the investigation to determine whether it could have been a terrorist act.
Videos filmed by witnesses from inside and outside the hotel show the vehicle, parked in front of the building’s entrance, explode and then burst into flames.
This incident occurred just hours after a car-ramming attack in New Orleans.
During a press conference, Las Vegas Police Sheriff Kevin McMahill said the incident raised “a lot of questions,” citing the fact that it involved a vehicle from the manufacturer Tesla, owned by billionaire Elon Musk, and that he had appeared in front of a Trump hotel.
Elon Musk, a supporter of Donald Trump during the US election campaign and appointed to an advisory role in the administration that takes office later this month, said the explosion was not caused by his vehicle. -even.
-“We have now confirmed that the explosion was caused by large fireworks and/or a bomb placed in the rented Cybertruck and was not related to the vehicle itself,” he wrote on the social network X, of which he is the owner.
Police said one person was found dead inside the vehicle. Seven people were lightly injured in the explosion, she added.
