Katz: IDF will redouble efforts against Hamas unless hostages are released

Defense Minister Israel Katz on Wednesday threatened Hamas to “inflict blows with unprecedented force in Gaza” if the terrorist group did not release the hostages it has held for 14 months and did not stop the shooting rockets into Israel.

“If Hamas does not quickly release the Israeli hostages from Gaza, despite the Israeli desire to find a compromise, in accordance with the principles set out by the American president, and continues to fire on Israeli communities, it will be subjected to blows from a force that we haven’t seen in Gaza for a long time,” said Katz, while traveling in Netivot, in southern Israel.

Last night, at midnight, Hamas fired two rockets at Netivot, which caused no damage or injuries.

“The Israeli army will increase its intensity against the terrorist enclaves in Gaza until the hostages are freed and Hamas is eliminated,” Katz continued.

“I ask you, residents of Gaza, to rise up against the murderous Hamas organization that uses you as human shields, and to help us free the hostages, prevent further suffering and end this war,” he added.
