Arrested last Thursday in Pamelap (the border between Guinea and Sierra Leone), Aliou Bah, the president of MoDeL, was presented this Monday, December 30, 2024, shortly after 3 p.m., to the prosecution of the Kaloum first instance court. He was accompanied by his lawyer, Me Pépé Antoine Lama.
Until then, Aliou Bah was in police custody at the Gendarmerie High Command for “insulting the head of state”. Now he faces the Kaloum prosecution. The latter could decide whether or not to continue this procedure against this young political leader.
In the event that the prosecution decides to continue the procedure, it could maintain the “offense against the head of state” charges already notified to Aliou Bah to the central directorate of judicial investigations of the national gendarmerie, just as it can opt for a reclassification facts.
Remember that the arrest of Aliou Bah sparked a wave of indignation and denunciation in Guinea and internationally. Several voices are still being raised to denounce what they describe as an “attempt at intimidation” and a “liberticidal drift” by the CNRD junta. They also call for the immediate and unconditional release of this young president of the MoDeL.
