On December 10, 2024, representatives of the Polish government presented, at the Prime Minister’s Chancellery in Warsaw, the priorities of the Polish presidency as well as its logo and motto.
The broader vision of security aligns with ongoing debates within the EU regarding its strategic autonomy. This vision also strengthens the case for further EU membership. A Enlarged Europe to Ukraine, Moldova as well as to the Western Balkan countries “would secure its borders, limit foreign interference and promote the feeling of belonging to the same group“. Other priorities are also put forward by Poland:
- strengthen security and defense policies, particularly in light of the war waged by Russia against Ukraine since February 23, 2022;
- fight against Russia’s attempts at interference;
- discuss financing of European defense including the possibility of launching Eurobonds for defense purposes.
Six major events are planned, all linked to the security priorities of the Polish Presidency. The presidency is committed to public participation, involving representatives from business, academia and civil society. Conferences welcoming guests from across the EU will be organized in different cities in Poland.
