the match between and Fenerbahçe rescheduled for March

Initially scheduled for December 19, the match between Paris and Fenerbahçe was postponed due to an epidemic within the Parisian squad. The meeting will finally take place on March 3.

Players of the meeting and supporters are fixed. While they were due to go to the Adidas Arena on December 19, as part of the 17th day of the Euroleague, the clash between Paris Basketball and Fenerbahçe was postponed a few hours before kick-off. Finally, the Euroleague announced the rescheduling to Monday March 3.

The same day, the French club announced that it was affected by an epidemic within its ranks. “Despite all efforts to organize this meeting, unforeseen circumstances, linked to injuries and unavailability, do not allow the club to have a full squad to ensure the meeting in optimal conditions”, indicated Paris Basketball in his press release.

Scheduled to be a sellout with 8,000 supporters, the club led by TJ Shorts wanted to reassure everyone. “The tickets remain valid for the new date which will be communicated to you later,” the club said. “We are working in close collaboration with the competent authorities to set a new date for this clash of the 17th day of the EuroLeague.”

A report which caused a reaction

A few hours after the announcement of the postponement, Evan Fournier took the liberty of reacting to this news which he considered incomprehensible. “Every team plays every night against illness and injuries. If you can’t show up with enough players to compete, you should lose the match,” lamented the Olympic vice-champion on his social networks.

An opinion also shared by Fenerbahçe. “Unfortunately, the situation yesterday which led to the postponement is unworthy of the seriousness and level of this organization,” the Turkish club wrote in English on its website.

If Paris Basketball was second in the Euroleague (11 wins/5 losses) before hosting Fenerbahçe on December 19 in its boiling Adidas Arena, the capital club does not experience the same dynamic at all. Five defeats in the last six matches, Nadir Hifi and his teammates are currently going through a bad patch, but they have two months to pick up their heads, to arrive in better shape against the Turks on March 3.
