NATO has announced its intention to strengthen its presence in the Baltic Sea, in response to this possible sabotage of submarine cables. The Kremlin said on Friday that it was not concerned by the subject.
This Russian tanker carried out a very suspicious maneuver precisely above the Estlink 2.
With its anchor scraping the seabed, it could easily have cut the cables.

The countries around the Baltic Sea are on alertfearing a possible act of sabotage, after a series of breakdowns on power cables, telecommunications links and gas pipelines since Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022. Finnish customs believe the ship is part of a ghost fleet of aging tankers who seek to escape sanctions on the sale of Russian oil.
