This Friday, the Ministry of Culture announced a new step in the recognition of the heritage of Notre-Dame de Paris: the presbytery of the cathedral has been officially classified as a historical monument. The request for secrecy submitted by Culture Minister Rachida Dat received a favorable opinion from the National Commission for Heritage Protection and Architecture on November 14. This recognition marks a turning point in the advancement of the cathedral complex.
The presbytery at the foot of the cathedral, the traditional residence of the priest, was designed in 1866 by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc, master of the neo-Gothic renovation of Notre-Dame in the 1862 century.
