ON VIDEO – As part of an interview with Madame Figarothe daughter of Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp spoke about her motivations to play Ellen in the gothic fable Nosferatuin theaters since December 25

Currently showing in Nosferatu in theaters since December 25, Lily-Rose Depp recently took part in the interview game for Madame Figaro. An exchange during which the 25-year-old actress notably returned to her motivations for playing one of the main roles in this gothic fable. Directed by Robert Eggers (The Witch, The Northman), this remake of the 1922 film Nosferatu, the vampires tells the all-consuming obsession between the terrifying Nosferatu and young Ellen Hutter, played by Lily-Rose Depp.

“It really was a dream”

“Robert Eggers is a director that I have always adored, with whom I have always dreamed of working,” immediately confides the daughter of Vanessa Paradis and Johnny Depp. “I have always loved this story, I have always found this myth very fascinating. To be able to play Ellen, but an Ellen who would be really central in the story, it was really a dream,” she explains. Because the one who is also a model reveals to be fascinated by the “magnificent” and “very cinematic” world of horror films. A penchant that she shares with Jack Depp, her brother three years younger. “We always loved Dracula growing up, so when I had the opportunity to be cast for this role, I said to myself: ‘maybe my brother will think I’m cool if I do this film’” , she admits with a smile.

So many reasons why the young woman does not hide her pride in having participated in this project, in having gone to the end of “all these scenes which [lui] were scary”, to have taken up “all these little challenges”. Moreover, when asked about her best memory of filming, she answers frankly: “it was an unforgettable experience that I loved, but it wasn’t fun either”.
