The news was confirmed by The Presson Thursday evening, after being reported by CTV News.
“They look forward to continuing the discussions that took place when the Prime Minister met with President Trump at Mar-a-Lago last month, as well as the positive call the ministers had with Mr. Tom Homan earlier this month,” indicated Minister LeBlanc’s spokesperson by email.
On November 29, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau went to Mar-a-Lago to meet the designated president. Dominic LeBlanc, then Minister of Public Safety, participated in the meeting. The Prime Minister’s chief of staff, Katie Telford, was also present.
In the coming days, Ministers LeBlanc and Joly intend to focus, in particular, on the negative repercussions that the imposition of 25% customs tariffs on Canadian products could have, both on Canada and the United States.
The fight against fentanyl trafficking and illegal migration, as well as the measures set out in Canada’s Border Plan, will also be issues addressed, it was specified.
