Espace 3 Mazarium, located in the heart of Paris, in the prestigious buildings of the Institut de France, hosted this Wednesday, December 18, 2024, the traditional annual press conference of the FFM (French Motorcycling Federation).
The opportunity for its President, Sébastien Poirier, to look back on the highlights of the year which has just passed and to look forward to a 2025 season which promises to be one of the richest.
A QUALITY 2024 SEASON
The number of licenses and practice titles for this sporting season stands at nearly 100,000 (99,919 as of 12/15) including 66,179 annual licenses. A figure which is part of the positive dynamic started after the health crisis with an increasingly large number of year-round practitioners.
The results of the events organized at the national level are of quality with 838 events on the calendar, compared to 860 in 2023. Note also the holding of 17 world events in the territory with attendance still increasing.
FRENCH WHO STAND OUT ON THE INTERNATIONAL SCENE
This season, France has 6 world titles, 11 World Cup victories, 11 European titles and 37 podiums. The know-how of the tricolors no longer needs to be demonstrated in Endurance with the titles of the pair formed by Gregg Black and Etienne Masson in the EWC World Endurance Championship and the victory in the Superstock World Cup for the National Motos team.
Still on asphalt, in a sidecar, Kévin Rousseau takes the aspiration of Emmanuelle Clément crowned in 2023 and wins his first world crown as a passenger.
Let us also mention the return of France to the highest level of World Enduro with a 10th title at the ISDE.
Also noteworthy on the European level, the titles of Mathis Valin in the European Motocross EMX250 Championship or the French Motoball Teams in Junior and Senior.
A PROVEN HIGH-LEVEL SECTOR
Like the previous mandate, youth and the High Level occupy a preponderant place. For many years now, the French Motorcycling Federation has been able to test the structuring of its Sectors in order to guarantee the sustainability of our contingent of riders present at the highest level.
As a reminder, this structure is broken down as follows: zone or national collectives, base of the pyramid, with the objective of an initial high-level approach to promising pilots.
Second level of the sector, the French Espoirs Teams bringing together a total of 42 drivers for 10 coaches. They represent the best hopes of their respective discipline and receive full federal support.
At the top of the pyramid, we find the drivers who can be selected for the French Teams and who will represent their country during international events.
These actions represent an investment of nearly €3 million per year.
In conclusion, 2024 was another very good year for French motorcycling sport
