Cyclocross, van der Poel also wins big in Gavere. Vanthourenhout is second and extends his lead in the World Cup

One, two notches above everyone else. Mathieu van der Poel is simply unplayable, in the absence of his two possible 'Kryptonites' Wout Van Aert and Tom Pidcock-.And in their absence he wins, indeed he dominates: third race and third victory for him, also rejoicing in Gavere, in his second participation in the World Cup.

The owner of the rainbow jersey did not pay for the bad weather in the municipality of Flanders. The Dutchman starts a little on the eggs, letting it vent at the beginning Tibor del Grosso that Thibau Nys, and then gave a first acceleration at the beginning of the second round, taking it with him Eli Iserbyt, Pim Ronhaar and Michael Vanthourenhout.

Ronhaar, however, immediately expelled himself from the fight due to a fall and there were three of them left. After a couple of unsuccessful attempts by Vanthiurenhout, van der Poel's decisive acceleration arrives and the race for first place ends there, at the beginning of the third lap. Thus begins the ride of the man from Alpecin-Deceuninck, who gets further and further ahead until finishing in triumph ahead of Vanthourenhout, 26″ away, and Thibau Nys, author of a good second part of the race.

For Vanthourenhout, however, it is the best possible result: Toon Aerts, his closest pursuer in the general classification, is only tenth while Ierbyt even finishes outside the top 10; Vanthourenhout therefore now has 36 points on Aerts with five races remaining in the World Cup.
