only equal with Everton, it's a terrible crisis

The Citizens no longer know how to win: six defeats and two draws in the last nine matches, Guardiola has lost his magic touch, he even risked being knocked out

Not even the Christmas atmosphere wakes up Manchester City: it's a deep crisis for Guardiola's team also ends up caged by Everton on boxing day. At the Etihad Stadium it ends 1-1, the curse of the Biancocelesti continues as they move further and further away from the top.

City's horror budget

While waiting for the other matches in the afternoon, Manchester City is in seventh place in the table with 28 points. The balance sheet so far is disheartening: eight wins, four draws and six defeats. Manchester City's crisis began at the beginning of November in conjunction with the injury of Ballon d'Or winner Rodri: since then, Guardiola's team has suffered six defeats in nine matches championship, picking up only five points following the success against Nottingham Forest and the draw against Crystal Palace and today with Everton.

The key moment of the match

City's “curse” can be summed up in the key episode of the 51st minute when, at 1-1, the referee awards a penalty to Manchester for a foul on Savinho. Haaland takes the ball, takes the ball in his hands, takes a long sigh and shoots towards goal but goalkeeper Pickford deflects it, the action continues and the ball reaches the striker again who puts it towards goal but it doesn't count. The assistant raises his flag and signals offside to the desperation of the home fans.

The initial illusion

A real “fatwa” that takes energy away from the home team, who had done well for half an hour in the first half, finding the advantage after less than a quarter of an hour (excellent incursion by Bernardo Silva who enters the area and with his left puts Pickford at the far post) but they had started to disunite after the equalizer. In the 36th minute, in fact, a gross mistake in the defensive phase by Aké, Ndiaye stationed at the far post controls and hits Ortega with a right foot towards the far post.

The end of the match was confusing, Everton even came close to scoring a big hit on the counterattack on 3-4 occasions but the result – after an inexplicable 6 minutes of injury time – no longer changed. It ends 1-1 and for Guardiola's City – who appeared worried but also a little paralyzed on the bench – the crisis of results (and play) continues.
