The 22-year-old girl resident in Bologna returned from Pakistan, her native country, less than two weeks ago. She was arrested yesterday in the raid by the ROS Carabinieri, after a complex investigation by the Bologna Prosecutor's Office coordinated by the National Anti-Mafia and Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor's Office, on charges , together with four other young people including his younger brother, of having set up, through online tools, a terrorist association dedicated to the promotion, consolidation and strengthening of groups such as “Al Qaeda” and “Islamic State”.
This is what emerges from the documents.
Four of the gang have been in prison since yesterday – the 22-year-old from Bologna, an 18-year-old from Spoleto from a family originally from Algeria, a 27-year-old of Turkish origin residing in Monfalcone, the 19-year-old brother of the 22-year-old believed to be the leader of the group – while the fifth suspect, a A 20-year-old of Moroccan origin residing in Milan, he is wanted because he left for Ethiopia in November this year.
The 22-year-old resident of Bologna, believed to be the head of the organization dedicated to online pro-Jihad proselytism, had recently undertaken a long trip to Pakistan, which was interrupted with an early return to Italy on 13 December.
The hypothesis is that the girl, from online propaganda, had as her objective the next leap: the creation of relationships in the field with members of armed struggle groups. Several times in conversations with the other girl in the group, the plan between the two also emerges of moving and living together in countries – in Central Africa but not only – with jihadist training camps or in any case with Islamic doctrine.
The 22-year-old emerges as a true online Jihad “influencer”, with an obsession with proselytism and in particular with the dissemination of content, precepts, videos, prayers in Italian, to recruit as many of her peers as possible in Italy. The warrant interrogation is scheduled for her in Bologna the day after tomorrow, together with that of another suspect. She is defended by the lawyer Simone Romano.
