The Tremiti Islands and the impact of bad weather

The Tremiti Islands, a small archipelago located off the coast of Puglia, are facing a critical situation due to an intense wave of bad weather. For two days, the archipelago has been completely isolated, with the motor vessel that normally connects Molise to the islands blocked in the port of Termoli. This situation has created considerable inconvenience for residents and tourists, forcing many to remain on land.

The consequences of storm surges

Storm surges hit the coast hard, causing flooding in several homes in Rio-Vivo Marinelle. Firefighters and municipal police were forced to intervene to evacuate two homes, while three people were rescued after being trapped in their homes. Strong gusts of wind also caused cornices, signs and trees to fall, increasing the risk to public safety.

Firefighters’ interventions

The Termoli Fire Department received numerous requests for intervention during the night, working tirelessly to deal with the emergencies caused by bad weather. The operators had to manage flooding situations and remove dangerous debris from the streets. Their dedication and professionalism were essential to ensure the safety of citizens in such a critical moment.
