Nolan's next film will be The Odyssey, starring Tom Holland who confesses: “I don't know what it's about”

Christopher Nolan raises the bar again. On Christmas Eve, here is the little present that can be unwrapped on 17 July 2026. The Oscar winner's next project for Oppenheimer will be drawn from none other thanHomer's Odyssey. As announced with a launch on X from the channels Universal PicturesNolan will dedicate himself to “a mythic action epic shot across the globe with brand-new IMAX film technology.” Now, before any possible comparison or delusion of grandeur, the very respectable cast must be highlighted: Matt Damon, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway(the inevitable) Zendaya, Lupita Nyong’o, Robert Pattinson e Charlize Theron. The production start date is in early 2025, while Nolan is ready to write (or has he already written?) and produce together with his trusted collaborator and wife, Emma Thomas under their production company Syncopy.

It goes without saying that the Odyssey is the literary text primary e foundational of every possible, past, current and future narrative or that have been measured with results that are not so negative, indeed Mario Camerini in 1954 showing the graces of Kirk Douglas in Ulysses or i Coen brothers in 2000 by staging the trio of convict fugitives in Brother where are you? One of the last veils to fall around the secrecy of Nolan's new project was Holland's half-confession. Last week the very English and young Spider Man he had admitted to having signed for the Odyssey project but without knowing much of the details: “To be honest I don't know what it is about”, he explained to The Dish podcast. “I met Nolan and he was amazing. Little has been said about the project, but I'm sure that when it's ready he will announce specifically what it is.” The Odyssey, if successful, will be Nolan's 13th feature film, having directed his first film in 1998.
