The other rich people of the next administration
Trump has nominated many other wealthy (but not billionaires) to positions in his administration. John Phelanfounder of MSD Capital, was chosen as secretary of the Navy, and Charles KushnerIvanka Trump's father-in-law and founder of real estate firm Kushner Companies, as ambassador to France. Massad BoulosTiffany Trump's father-in-law, chosen as senior advisor for the Middle East, was presented as a business titan, even if the New York Times he wrote that he runs a truck dealership in Nigeria worth about $865,000.
The context
Trump, a billionaire himself, with a fortune estimated at 6.1 billion dollars, quickly appointed his entire cabinet after his election victory, orienting himself towards rich people and Wall Street executives as he had already done in his first term. Historians said at the time that his cabinet was the richest in history.
Media coverage of Trump's appointments has mostly focused on some of the most controversial names, including his first choice for attorney general, the former Republican congressman Matt Gaetzwho called it quits amid a sexual harassment scandal (he denied the allegations). Even Trump's choice as Secretary of Defense, Pete Hegsethis at risk after the release of a 2017 sexual assault allegation and, more recently, alcohol abuse allegations.
