Opening of Porta Santa Giubileo, all safety measures and traffic information for 24 December

Almost everything is ready for the opening ceremony of the 2025 Jubilee. On December 24th at 7pm Pope Francis will open the Holy Door of St. Peter's Basilica. For this reason, Roma Servizi per la Mobilità has released some precise indications regarding safety obligations, diversions and new roads that will affect the Vatican area until December 26th.

Vehicle removal, that's where

In fact, from 24 to 26 December, the ceremonies for the start of the Jubilee and the celebration of Christmas are scheduled in St. Peter's, including the Urbi et Orbi blessing. By midnight on December 24th and until the need ceases on December 26th, all vehicles must be removed from the following streets: via di Porta Angelica (from Largo del Colonnato to Piazza del Risorgimento); square of the Leonine City; wide of the Colonnade; via dei Corridori between Largo del Colonnato and Via dell'Erba; Pope Pius XII square; via della Conciliazione including the side streets, from Piazza Pia to Piazza Papa Pio XII; via Rusticucci; via dell'Erba; Borgo Sant'Angelo from via della Traspontina to via dei Corridori; via dei Cavalieri del Santo Sepolcro; Pfeiffer Street; Largo degli Alicorni; Borgo Santo Spirito in Largo degli Alicorni to Largo Ildebrando Gregori; via Paolo VI; Piazza del Sant'Uffizio.

Roads closed to traffic

From 1pm on December 24th until December 26th, by the Local Police, the following will be closed to vehicular traffic:
– Borgo Santo Spirito, from piazza Ildebrando Gregori to via Paolo VI
– all of Via Porta Angelica
– off Porta Cavalleggeri with prohibition of vehicular transit in the direction of Piazza del Sant'Uffizio
– via dei Corridori.
– via dell'Erba
– via dei Cavalieri del Santo Sepolcro
– via Rusticucci

Also from 1pm on 24 December, barriers will be positioned to close some road levels, in particular on via di Porta Angelica, via dei Corridori, via Rusticucci, via della Conciliazione and Borgo Santo Spirito.
