USA, former president Clinton hospitalized with high fever

Former US president, Bill Clinton

The former president Bill Clinton he was admitted to hospital in the last few hours due to a persistent and significant illness feverish state. This was reported by spokesperson Angel Ureña, who announced from social media that the former occupant of the White House is at the Georgetown University Medical Center for “investigations and under observation after developing the fever. He remains in good spirits and deeply appreciates the excellent care he is receiving“. Then speaking to CNN, Ureña reported that Clinton “he's fine” and that he hopes to leave the department by Christmas, to be able to celebrate it with his family.

However, the people around him reassure him about his conditions, reporting that they are in no way “urgent” or “serious”. Clinton, now 78 years old, was president of the United States for two terms, from 1993 to 2001, and this summer he was particularly busy in Chicago supporting the electoral campaign of Kamala Harris. He put a lot of effort into supporting the current Democratic vice president, as he did when his wife Hilary ran for the White House, again against Donald Trump, with the same result as Harris. Perhaps, the 42nd president of the United States holds a record: since 1976, the year in which he made his first speech at the Democratic convention, he has never missed an appointment.

Over the years, there have been several health problems that have forced him to take a break several times. In 2004 he underwent surgery bypass quadruplo after suffering prolonged chest pain and shortness of breath and then, in 2005, returning to hospital for further surgery due to the near-total collapse of a lung. In 2010 he returned to the operating room for the implantation of some stent coronarici and it was following this last operation that he decided to follow a vegetarian diet. In 2021 he underwent another hospitalization. In the difficult months of hospitalizations for Covid-19, Clinton found himself having to resort to medical care for what his staff defined as a urological infection which had spread into the bloodstream.

Septic shock was averted for the former president, but he spent a few days in intensive care, although the spokesperson denied that he was receiving intensive care. It was mostly a precaution given the risk of contracting Covid-19 during their stay in hospital.
