LIVE SLALOM ALTA BADIA: TIMON HAUGAN WON
Timon Haugan he won it slalom in Alta Badia and it is a more than deserved verdict on the Big Laughter in the last race of the Ski World Cup before Christmas. The Norwegian was already in the lead after the first heat and was also fantastic in the second, finishing with a time of 1'45″40 and an eloquent advantage of 1″13 over the second, who is the Swiss Loic Meillardwho enjoyed a splendid comeback during the second heat, thanks to which he rose from eighth place to second place, even if the victory was controversial. Norway as a whole dominated, considering the third place of Atle Lie McGrathalthough with a delay of 1″26 which indicates a decidedly less brilliant second heat for him, while Henrik Kristoffersen remains at the foot of the podium with fourth place at 1″31.
The disappointment is for France, with Clement Noel dropping to sixth place behind the Croatian Samuel Kolega while Steven Amiez goes out again in the second heat. For Italy a disappointing slalom in Alta Badia, but on the other hand in the absence of the injured Tommaso Sala and with the exit of Alex Vinatzer unfortunately we couldn't ask for much more. A smile for Simon Maurbergerwho had also left the team and on the Gran Risa collected precious points with twenty-first place at 3″69, while then here he was in twenty-fourth position Tobias Kastlunger with a delay of 4″28 from the winner. THE SECOND RUN
The second round is about to begin which will issue all the verdicts on the direct slalom Alta Badiawith the Norwegian Tiomon Haugan favorite after the excellent performance in the first heat on the Gran Risa. Barring twists and turns that should never be underestimated, especially between the narrow posts, the fight for victory could be restricted to a duel between Haugan and his compatriot Atle Lie McGrath, who follows him 31/100 behind. For the podium, however, the fight could be wider, considering the much smaller gaps at least from third to tenth place.
There are in fact eight slalomists enclosed in 56/100, starting with Clement Noel followed by Henrik Kristoffersen and Steven Amiez just six hundredths behind the Olympian. For Italy, however, there was a small smile, because Simon Maurberger also managed to qualify, twenty-second at 2″91 behind with bib number 55, so much so that he was just one hundredth ahead of Tobias Kastlunger's twenty-third place. But now the word goes back to the track and the clock for the direct Alta Badia slalom! (Update by Mauro Mantegazza)

TIMON HAUGAN IN TEST
The direct slalom Alta Badia sees the Norwegian in command Timon Haugan after the first run on the Big Laughter: truly excellent performance by Haugan, splendid practically throughout the entire track and capable of stopping the clock at a time of 52″25, which only his compatriot came close to Atle Lie McGrathwho dropped immediately after Haugan and stopped 31/100 behind. Then there is a “hole” which is already much more evident, since it rises to 99/100 for third place Clement Noeleven if all in all it is to be considered positive for the Frenchman, upon his return after the injury in Val d'Isere.
In the top five there are only Norwegians and French, since we then find the veteran Henrik Kristoffersen and the son of art Steven Amiez paired in fourth position at 1″05, therefore very close to Noel. However, there are sad notes for Italy, which risks being alone in the second round Tobias Kastlungermoreover 2″92 behind Haugan. In fact, Alex Vinatzer has mounted his bike, while Stefano Gross is already well out of 30. The appointment is however for 1.30 pm, when the live Alta Badia slalom will return as protagonist! IT BEGINS
It's about to kick off direct slalom Alta Badianaturally with the first heat: we have already mentioned the fact that in this specialty the last precedent on the Gran Risa dates back to 21 December 2020, when the Swiss Ramon Zenhäusern won ahead of the Austrians Manuel Feller and Marco Schwarz, while previously there were there were another five slaloms in Alta Badia between 2006 and 2011, characterized by five different winners: for Italy the memory the last one is sweeter, because on 19 December 2011 Marcel Hirscher won, but Giuliano Razzoli took second place, for Italy's only podium between the narrow poles on the Gran Risa.
In the current season, however, Henrik Kristoffersen leads with 220 points ahead of Clement Noel, stuck at 200 thanks to victories in the first two races. Also lurking are Loic Meillard and Atle Lie McGrath, who scored 165 and 162 points respectively in slalom in the first three outings of the season. Now, however, all that matters is what happens today: word to the track and the stopwatch for the first run of the direct Alta Badia slalom! (Update by Mauro Mantegazza)
A WELCOME RETURN
Today Monday 23 December 2024 the direct slalom Alta Badia still puts it on the cover Ski World Cup which continues to keep us company with the fascinating races in Italy. The track Big Laughter will offer us a slalom and the news is precisely the return of the narrow pole specialists on this slope: we know that theAlta Badia it is a great classic of the giant, in slalom there are precedents but decidedly fewer, the last of which was in 2020, but replacing a slalom that had been canceled in Val d'Isere. Over the years we have also had some editions of the parallel or a double of giants, but this time the narrow poles are back.
The direct Alta Badia slalom will therefore be a fascinating stage of a season that has so far been on the cover of the specialty Clement Noel ed Henrik Kristoffersen: the Frenchman in fact won the first two races in November between Levi and Gurgl, while the Norwegian won eight days ago in Val d'Isere, also taking advantage of his rival's absence to jump to the top of the Slalom Cup standings. However, there are many contenders for victory and the podium, and we are also noticing some signs of growth from the Italian slalomists: many issues to keep in mind for the direct slalom Alta Badia.
ALTA BADIA SLALOM LIVE: THE FAVORITES AND THE ROLE OF THE ITALIANS
We have already presented some themes for the direct slalom Alta Badia. The injury suffered by Noel in the giant slalom in Val d'Isere, which prevented him from participating in the slalom the following day, blocked the dominator of the first part of the season. An assist exploited in the best possible way by Kristoffersen, but also by two other slalomists who started the season characterized by consistency at the highest level, namely the Swiss Loic Meillard and the other Norwegian Atle Lie McGrath. Lurking then is the other Frenchman Steven Amiez, the now Brazilian Lucas Pinheiro Braathenwho have already come close to the podium or even more several times.
As far as Italy is concerned, we talked about signs of growth to be confirmed in the direct Alta Badia slalom. Total disaster in Levi, some modest placings in Gurgl, then the first satisfactions in Val d'Isere, with seventh place Tobias Kastlunger and the tenth of Alex Vinatzerso now we need to continue on this path, hoping perhaps for even greater satisfactions, from the two South Tyroleans but also from one Stefano Gross who doesn't give up and will put all his experience on the table.
