Bologna, 22 December 2024 – After the knockout suffered a week ago – the Trentino team's first misstep in the championship – Dolomiti Energia Trento immediately resumed its run at the top of the Serie A basketball championship by winning 87-79 in the all-black and white match against Virtus Segafredo Bologna: the watershed of the match was the third quarter, in which coach Paolo Galbiati's men they posted an 18-0 partial lead – which then became 25-5 throughout the entire half – effectively going from -11 at the end of the first half with 52 points conceded in 20' to +7. A blaze that galvanized the Trentino team quite a bit, capable in the final 10 minutes of resisting the timid attempts to return from a Virtus team still orphaned by Toko Shengelia and appearing a little short of energy towards the end after the double round of the Euroleague. In evidence, in the ranks of Dolomiti Energia, Anthony Lamb with 21 points and Myles Cale with 17. For Virtus, who suffered in the rebounding battle in the final minutes, Isaia Cordinier's 17 points were not enough.
A very fast Germani Brescia was able to take full advantage of the defeat suffered by the Bolognese – now second alone and certain like TRento of a pass to the Final Eight of the Italian Cup – who scored their sixth success in a row by defeating Umana 90-89 Reyer Venicethus reaching her third knockout in a row. The Taliercio match followed a fluctuating trend: after a good start for the hosts (24-14 after the first 10') Venezia responded with a 31-19 partial which allowed them to close the first half with a +2. Brescia then tried to extend the lead again but Venezia had the strength to hang on to the match until the final stages in which Burnell and Della Valle put their signatures on the +3 baskets which Venezia was no longer able to recover. On the Brescia success there is the unmistakable stamp of Miro Bilan with 23 points and 11 rebounds and of the Ivanovic-Della Valle tandem (16 points each), while on the lagoon front there are the 26 points of Tyler Ennis, author of a heavy loss in the final seconds, and Jordan Parks' 22.
Among the most significant shots of the day, there is also the first seasonal victory for Napoli Basket which broke the deadlock by winning the Campania derby against Givova Scafati 96-94 after extra time: on the day of his return to the blue and white, Jacob Pullen immediately made a devastating impactfinishing with 28 points, but the most important signature on this Neapolitan success was made by Leonardo Toté who scored the tap-in of the victory at the end. For the former Fortitudo Bologna big man there were 21 points and 11 rebounds on the scoresheet. After five successes, however, Nutribullet Treviso's winning streak came to an end, beaten 96-94 at Dinamo Banco di Sardegna Sassaridriven by the duo of Justin Bibbins (22 points) and Miralem Halilovic (20 points). Finally, there are some things worth mentioning the external blow of Bertram Derthona Tortona, who defeated Estra Pistoia 93-89, bringing five men to double figures (21 points for Christian Vital), and the sixth consecutive victory of Unahotels Reggio Emilia which prevailed with a peremptory 97-80 over Openjobmetis Varese.
