The accident in via De Nicola is a tragic reminder of the accident that took the life of Rocio Espinoza Romero, the 34-year-old woman hit and killed by a truck on 10 December in viale Renato Serra. The victim, who lived not far away, was crossing the street with her mother and her one and a half year old twins, both in a stroller.
The family had been hit by a truck driven by a 24-year-old boy, who stopped for 4 seconds after the impact and then took off again. The driver, now under house arrest, continued to work and was stopped an hour and a half later by the officers, who tracked him down in a quarry in Arluno.
On Tuesday morning, however, a 61-year-old municipal manager knocked over a mother and her three-year-old daughter in Piazza Durante al Casoretto. Despite the impact, the driver of the car then took off again, moving away and losing track. The little girl, rescued by the 118 doctors, was instead accompanied to the Niguarda emergency room. The “belts” fortunately prevented her from being catapulted onto the asphalt, but in the accident she suffered facial trauma and a cut to her face.
