It is recommended to observe the good behavioral rules indicated by the Civil Protection:
Outdoor
· avoid exposed areas, gaining a sheltered position with respect to the possible detachment of exposed or suspended objects and the consequent fall of even small and relatively light objects, such as a vase or a tile;
· avoid green areas and tree-lined streets with particular attention. The most frequent accident associated with gusts of wind concerns the breaking of branches, even large ones, which can either directly affect the population or fall and dangerously occupy the streets, creating a serious risk also for motorcyclists and motorists.
In an urban environment
· if you find yourself driving a car or motorbike, pay particular attention because the gusts tend to make the vehicle skid, and therefore make it essential to moderate your speed or make a stop;
· pay particular attention on exposed road sections, such as those at the exit from tunnels and viaducts; the vehicles most subject to danger are vans, tarpaulin vehicles and caravans, which expose a large surface area to gusts and can literally be moved by the wind, even when the intensity does not reach very high peaks.
· In general, all mobile structures are particularly at risk, especially those that require the presence of sheets or awnings, such as scaffolding, gazebos, temporary outdoor exhibition or commercial structures, whose tightness and insurance must be tested.
In the coastal area
· In coastal areas, strong ventilation is associated with the risk of storm surges, particularly if the wind comes perpendicular to the coast. Because of this:
· use maximum caution when approaching the coast or traveling along coastal roads;
· avoid stopping on the latter and even more so on piers and piers;
· avoids bathing and the use of boats and insures in advance the boats and structures present on the beaches and in the port areas.
At home
Arrange and properly secure all objects in your home or workplace that are in open areas exposed to the effects of the wind and risk being transported by gusts (vases and other objects on windowsills or balconies, antennas or roof coverings/claddings placed precariously, etc.).
