Vuelta a España 2025, the route calls Tadej Pogačar: “We’ll talk about it and decide, but we already have quite clear ideas”

The path of Tour of Spain 2025 It’s only been official for a few hours, but the thoughts of enthusiasts and especially the organizers immediately went to Tadej Pogačar. The Slovenian champion, fresh from a legendary 2024, has already made it known that he will certainly be at the start of the Tour de France 2025 and that a second Grand Tour will be on his seasonal programme. The choice is therefore between the Giro d’Italia and, indeed, the Vuelta a España. In recent days, when Pogačar’s program was revealed, doubts still to be resolved were highlighted, also because at the time the routes of the two races were still unknown (at least to the general public).

Now the route of the Vuelta is there to see. “It will be a race with pure Vuelta DNA, with ten uphill finishes and other stages with climbs to climb – the words of Joxean Fernández Rebellionsports director of UAE Team Emiratesreported by As – There are also two time trials and I’m a little surprised to see that one of these will be immediately after the first day of rest, when the transfer from France to Spain will take place.”

There is certainly no lack of ground for Pogačar to make a difference: “I will talk about it with him in the hotel (the team is starting a pre-season training camp in Spain – ndr) and we will decide. We know that when Tadej takes on a race, he does it in spectacular fashion. However, within the team we already have quite clear ideas. Sooner or later the Vuelta will happen, because it is a race that he hasn’t won yet.” The Slovenian, moreover, revealed himself to the general public on the streets of the Vuelta, in the 2019 edition, when he was not yet 20 years old and still managed to win three stages and get on the final podium, third.

The one who will certainly not be at the Vuelta 2025, at least in the early season programmes, is the Spaniard Juan Ayusoanother star of the UAE Emirates, who has already raced three in his career, despite his young age: “At 22 years old, we still don’t want to take him to do two Grand Tours in one year”, Matxin’s considerations.
