Inter beat Udinese 2-0 in the round of 16 of the Italian Cup, gaining access to the quarter-finals, where they will face Lazio in 2025. After a complicated start, the Nerazzurri found the lead in the 30th minute with Arnautovic, taking advantage a serious mistake by the Friulian defense. The second goal came in added time in the first half thanks to a splendid goal by Asllani, who scored directly from a corner. In the second half, Inzaghi’s team managed the result without particular difficulties, with Martinez never seriously involved. At the half hour mark, Inter took the lead thanks to an error by Udinese: Taremi intercepted and served a precise through ball to Arnautovic, who hit the goalkeeper with his left foot to make it 1-0. In the 36th minute the Nerazzurri came close to doubling their lead with Frattesi, whose volley forced the opposing goalkeeper into a difficult save that sent the ball into a corner. The second goal however came in added time in the first half: magic from Asllani, who directly from a corner surprised everyone with a perfect trajectory, slotting the net and leaving the Friulian defense with no escape. After just 2′, Udinese came close to taking the lead with a right-footed shot from Ekkelenkamp, which went just wide. In the 5th minute, a key episode for Inter: on Arnautovic’s shot, Kabasele deflects the ball with his arm, and the referee awards the penalty. However, after a VAR consultation, the penalty was cancelled. In the 13th minute, Kamara created havoc in the Nerazzurri defense, but his shot was promptly blocked by Bastoni. Shortly afterwards, Asllani received a yellow card for stopping a dangerous counterattack by the Friulians.
