The appeals court found “apparent impropriety” in the relationship between Fani Willis and Nathan Wade, the chief deputy and special prosecutor it had appointed for the case. CNN reported it.
The Attorney General of Georgia, Fani Williswas removed from the proceedings against Donald Trump concerning the attempt to subvert the outcome of the elections 2020 presidential elections in the state. The decision, reported by Cnnwas upheld by the appeals court, which found an “appearance of impropriety” related to the relationship between Willis and Nathan Wadeformer deputy chief and special prosecutor whom she herself had appointed for the case.

According to the court, such a connection would have undermined public trustarguing that “no other remedy will be sufficient to restore public confidence in the integrity of these proceedings.” The defendants, including Trump and 14 of his alliesthey had accused Willis of benefit economically of the relationship with Wade, also citing trips taken together at state expense. The court did not order thearchiving of the case, but Willis’ removal will require the appointment of a new prosecutor to continue.
