Gisele Pelicot, her ex-husband Dominique sentenced to 20 years

Dominique Pelicot was found guilty of raping and sedating his wife Gisèle and of having her subjected to rape by dozens of other men over a period of ten years. The president of the criminal court of declared it guilty of all the crimes of which he was accusedfrom the aggravated rapes against his wife Gisèle, to the attempted rape and aggravated rape against the wife of a co-defendant. Pelicot is also guilty of taking sexual images of his daughter Caroline and his former daughters-in-law. The man was sentenced to twenty years in prison, at the request of the prosecution.

The sentences to the co-defendants

None of Dominique Pelicot’s co-defendants were acquitted to the ongoing trial in Vaucluse. The first sentences imposed on the 50 co-defendants are, for the moment, significantly lower than those requested by the prosecution, which had set a minimum sentence of ten years for the rapes.

Jean-Pierre M. was sentenced to twelve years in prison. The prosecutor had requested seventeen years of imprisonment. The 63-year-old man was described as the ‘disciple’ of Dominique Pelicot. He was the only defendant not to appear for acts committed against Gisèle Pelicot, but against his own wife, whom he drugged so that Dominique P. could rape her.
