Slight correction session for the NASDAQ 100, after Monday’s record.
The spectacular performance achieved during 2024 (+31%) and in particular the rally achieved in the last four months alone (+27%) raise some legitimate concerns among investors about the immediate prospects of technology stocks.
The strategists, however, show no hesitation Wedbushwho predict another +25% rise in tech stocks in 2025, driven by the continued boom inartificial intelligence.
The investment bank specifically predicts that AI-related capital spending will exceed $2 trillion (2 trillion) over the next three years.
According to Wedbush, three key factors will drive the growth of the technology sector:
1) First, the important ones AI-related initiatives by the US governmentwhich would benefit companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Google, Palantir, and Oracle. The focus on artificial intelligence is expected to be a central aspect of the Trump administration, with significant implications for the defense sector and others.
2) Secondly, the output of Lina Khan from the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is seen as a key positive development for the tech industry. The takeover of Andrew Ferguson should encourage a scaling back of Khan’s strict anti-tech policies, which could lead to an increase in tech mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
3) Third, Wedbush believes that Trump’s victory will be particularly favorable for Tesla and its CEO, Elon Musk. The investment firm expects Trump’s policies to accelerate Tesla’s self-driving and fully autonomous driving (FSD) initiatives, potentially bringing forward the company’s 2026/2027 goals for autonomous vehicles.
