the Mexican says goodbye, replacement to be confirmed

Sergio Perez will no longer be a Red Bull driver and he will not drive the Austrian team’s single-seater in 2025. The Mexican, fresh from a disastrous season at the wheel of the car from Milton Keynes, thus ends his adventure with the partnership linked to the well-known drink. The 34-year-old, who in this competitive year collected four podiums in the first five races only to end up at the back of the grid and finish the World Championship in eighth position, ends his adventure in Red Bull after four seasons in the shadow of Max Verstappen (five Grands Prix won between 2021 and 2023).

The renamed Checo also had a contract for next year, but the results of the last eight months have been so lacking as to convince the team not to honor their commitment to the end. This is probably the end of Sergio Perez’s career in F1: his seat will likely be occupied by Liam Lawsonready to support the four-time World Champion (an announcement is expected in the next few days). There are currently no other credible options for the Mexican.

Sergio Perez wanted to greet with this message:I am incredibly grateful for the last four years with Red Bull and for the opportunity to race with such an amazing team. Driving for Red Bull was an unforgettable experience and I will cherish the successes we achieved together forever. We’ve broken records, achieved remarkable goals, and I’ve had the privilege of meeting so many incredible people along the way“.

The pilot continued:A big thank you to all the people on the team, from management, engineers and mechanics, to catering, hospitality, cooking, marketing and communications, as well as to all the employees at Milton Keynes, who I wish all the best for the future. It has also been an honor to race alongside Max as a teammate all these years and share our successes. Special thanks to fans around the world, especially those in Mexico, for their unwavering daily support. We’ll see you again soon. And remember: never give up“.
