Simone Inzaghi removes a pebble from his shoe after Lazio-Inter: “A lot has been said”

In the interview after his Inter’s resounding victory away to Lazio, Simone Inzaghi took a pebble off his shoe by sending a venomous dig at those who had criticized the Nerazzurri too harshly after the Champions League defeat away to Bayer Leverkusen.

Inter puts the Champions League defeat against Bayer Leverkusen behind them by overwhelming Lazio with a 0-6 tennis win in the postponement of the 16th matchday of the 2024-2025 Serie A e sending a powerful message to its rivals for the Scudetto moving to -1 from Antonio Conte’s Napoli and -3 from leaders Atalanta with one match to recover (the one against Fiorentina suspended due to the tragic illness that occurred on the pitch in Bove).

A test of strength for the Nerazzurri team which still needed an episode, the penalty awarded for Gigot’s handball in the action of De Vrij’s disallowed goal, to reverse the trend of a match which up until then had seen the Biancocelesti become more dangerous in Sommer’s area than the guests had done from those of Provedel. In fact, after the penalty converted by Calhanoglu, the Milanese team literally took the game into their own hands and, probably chasing away some small ghost that appeared after the Champions League knockout in Germany, overwhelmed a Lazio team completely incapable of putting up any resistance to the attack of the Nerazzurri who scored with six different players and five different assist men showing an impressive variety of offensive solutions from the goal from fifth to fifth to the shot from outside the area, from the test shot on a cross from the attacking midfield to the combination in the narrow area up to the personal action.

Obviously very happy with the result and performance Simone Inzaghi who, with his usual calm tone and never-over-the-top style that has always distinguished him, in the TV interview that took place after the race he also took the opportunity to remove a few pebbles from his shoe against those who had criticized his Inter after the defeat at the last minute, after a less than exciting performance, remedied in the Champions League against Bayer Leverkusen which somewhat complicated the race for direct qualification to the round of 16: “Since September, when we lost the derby, many have been waiting for anything else. Much has been said. There were a lot of people who couldn’t wait for us to stumble like in Leverkusen but luckily my boys don’t listen much and pedal a lot” the Nerazzurri coach commented to DAZN that with the round 6-0 win at Lazio he evidently wanted to send a message not only to the rivals for the Scudetto but to all those who at the first misstep criticized a team that before the misstep in Germany they had achieved 11 wins and 2 draws (with Juve and Napoli) in the previous thirteen matches in the championship and cups.
